PART 2 OF 3: Award-Winning Massage Care
Hi! I’m Dr. Kevin Plummer, DC, the owner and founder of Advanced Health Chiropractic (AHC).
Today we will discuss part 2 of 3 parts about how AHC administers our Award-Winning Massage Care.
Specifically, today I’ll cover:
- Physician Prescribed Massage.
- AHC Has the Resources and Physicians.
- Optimize Your Insurance Benefits.
If you’re new here, let me take a moment and introduce myself.
Again, I’m Dr. Kevin Plummer, DC.
I know exactly what you’re going through because I was there once.
In my 20’s, when competing as a decathlete in college, 2 weeks before the National Championships, I broke my leg, which was a season-ending injury!
I didn’t want to use the pain meds or be put in a cast. I needed an alternative.
One of my friends recommended I try chiropractic.
And I did!
Shockingly, in just 2 weeks, I didn’t just compete at the National Championships. I did so without pain!
Back then, competing was my life, and if it weren’t for Chiropractic, I would have missed out on the opportunity of a lifetime.
This Experience Is What Drove Me To Become A Chiropractor.
Currently, my clinic Advanced Health Chiropractic™ serves hundreds of patients a day and growing!
And this experience is ultimately why I am passionate about helping you and others …
… overcome and STOP your pain so you, too, can experience the energy and positive outlook on life you deserve.
All right …
Today, I’m going to cover Part 2 of 3 parts about how AHC administers our Award-Winning Massage Care, including:
1. Physician Prescribed Massage.
2. AHC Has the Resources and Physicians.
3. Optimize Your Insurance Benefits.
Let’s start with ….
1. Physician Prescribed Massage.
Physicians are trained to examine and create treatment plans for people around their injuries—current or chronic injuries, injury history, etc.
So why is that important to get a massage prescription from a trained physician? Our Physicians are not only trained to give massage prescriptions, but we’re also trained to give physical therapy prescriptions.
And that means we understand how the body works, how injury works, and how injury recovery works.
And that goes into making our massage prescription …
… not only how many you should have per unit of time …
… but how many …
… how often …
… how deep should the massage go …
… where should the massage be: should it be your lower back, neck, or all of the above?
Are we working around a specific injury?
Are we going to be able to be careful around one spot and then more intensive on another spot?
So those details will all be worked out precisely and conveyed to the patient with our chiropractic physicians.
In other words, the difference is that at Advanced Health Chiropractic (AHC), your massage prescription comes from a physician who considers your history, injuries, capacities, and strength level.
That’s a significant difference!
Our physicians are trained, whereas when you go to another Massage Therapist, you might get a general massage based on how you feel …
… or however much clinical advancement the massage person has.
For instance, we have several patients that are Licensed Massage Therapists (LMT) who go to their friends and have gone to their friends for years, and they come to AHC and get a clinician-prescribed massage …
… they say, “Wow, this is the best massage I’ve ever had!”
Even though they got it from a professional LMT for years, that’s mainly because our clinicians are educated as physicians to know where not to push.
Plus, what’s the goal of the massage?
We will prescribe different massage types depending on the patient’s desired outcome.
We’re never going to offer a cookie-cutter massage to every patient.
Our massages are individually prescribed.
And that’s why these same people that have been going to their friend LMT for years come here from now on!
For those of you who had massages or haven’t, when was the last time you had a massage that an exceptionally well-trained physician prescribed?
2. AHC Has the Resources and Physicians.
We have a large staff of trained assistants. So, we have the resources to maintain complete treatment plans for many people.
So, as I alluded to earlier, AHC has the resources to accommodate massage prescriptions.
For instance, your prescription might be once a week, once a month, or two or three times a week for a month or two.
If you go to another Massage Therapist with one set of hands and can’t fit you in their schedule for one week, that will substantially diminish your treatment.
Here at AHC, we’ll get you scheduled!
We have over 20 massage rooms; all our assistants are trained to give the prescribed massages.
You won’t miss treatments.
Of course, occasionally you might because that’s life. But it won’t be because of a lack of openings in our schedule!
We never want to veer too far from your treatment plan to be able to maintain it because the treatment plan is written specifically with several massages per unit of time.
You need to hit roughly that number to maintain improvement in progress and your injury recovery.
And if you can’t, things get short-circuited, and you spin your wheels, wasting your money and insurance benefits.
Because we have resources to accommodate many massages and regular frequencies, you can maintain your treatment plan at AHC better than anywhere.
We have more rooms than anybody in town!
In addition, our assistants are trained several times a week in patient care, including the type of massage that Advanced Chiropractic Clinicians and Physicians prescribe.
Their trained week after week, nonstop!
So, part of our culture is constantly improving our massages every week.
For instance, we’ve had many patients who’ve been coming for months or even years, and they say,
“Man, the massages are always great, but they’re even better now!”
Because these last few months, all of our assistants have been improving their skillsets and knowledge base.
It’s inherent in the AHC culture to improve and get better at delivering quality care.
Here are some questions I’d like for you to consider:
- Does your massage provider you’re currently seeing have the capacity to treat you in a way that can maintain or manage an appropriate treatment plan?
- Do they have resources such as the time available? For example, can they get you in often enough? Can they deliver the appropriate massage best for you? Is their staff constantly improving? Is their skill set improving as they get to know you more and more?
- Are you seeing a massage person to gain Advanced Health (wink – wink)?
3. Optimize Your Insurance Benefits.
We have a specially trained staff to optimize your insurance benefits to ensure you get the most out of your treatment plans and insurance coverage in every positive way without wasting your benefits.
We are Preferred Providers and can be found on most networks.
So, one of the ways to become a preferred provider is to use a patient’s insurance coverage effectively.
Most insurance plans will allow a certain amount of alternative care, whether annual Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, or Massage coverage.
Because we have a large patient base, we don’t have to push people through and do as many massages as possible.
Instead, we can optimize your benefits because we deliver quality care, so with each massage, we’re getting somewhere with it.
On top of that, we have a very skilled crew that does our billing for us.
They can ensure patients get the best coverage to accommodate the treatment plans prescribed professionally by physicians.
For example, we’ve had patients come in when they’re halfway through the year, and their benefits are almost exhausted.
They don’t feel any better, “Man, I’ve been going to this XYZ massage person, and I’ll be getting three, four, sometimes five massages a week. And it hasn’t been helping!”
And now, the benefits are almost gone, and AHC must work with them.
But that’s an example of somebody whose benefits are abused rather than optimized.
I’m not going to call anybody out, but this happens when your physician has a lower patient base and wants to deliver as much care to a patient as possible …
… but in the end, they spin their wheels on that patient.
If a patient’s getting regular massages and not seeing progress, that care should have been stopped long ago.
And that’s another benefit of a professionally prescribed treatment plan from a physician!
Here at AHC, we’re looking after you …
… if we’re not seeing the progress, you should be.
We stop your treatment.
We do something else.
We can change the type of massage you’re getting, whether deep or less deep tissue or a different kind altogether.
We’ll figure it out and deliver that care instead.
Sometimes we even combine your massage treatment with some Physical Therapy programs quickly.
We’re constantly checking in on you.
Our policy is to check every six weeks and say, “How are you? How are you improving?”
First, we will get your take on it, your subjective take. We’ll also take some measurements and ensure you’re getting verifiable improvement in your injury or situation.
Are you getting massages now that’s been delivered in a way that optimizes your insurance benefits?
This is an important question because when you run out, you’re out.
And then it’s tough to maintain or recover from injuries.
Today, I’ve covered Part 2 of 3 parts about how AHC administers our Award-Winning Massage Care, including:
1. Physician Prescribed Massage.
